MAPUTO hosts the ODINAFRICA Planning and Review meeting
The final planning and review meeting for the project on “Integrated Data and Information Products and Services for the Management of Oceans and Coastal Zones in Africa - ODINAFRICA-IV (27-29 May 2013, Maputo, Mozambique) was officially opened by the Mozambique Minister for Transport and Communications, Hon. Paulo Zacula. Presentations were made on the implementation status of ODINAFRICA, including products and services developed such as the Coastal and Marine Atlases, Marine Information products, African Register of Marine Species, Marine Mammals Surveys, and the African Sea Level Network. Case studies on impacts at national level were presented, as well as linkages to other regional organizations and programmes.
Discussions focused on learning from ODINAFRICA, identifying priority issues that the institutions can work on, and potential areas of collaboration with other programmes/organizations, and planning for the future.
